The Future of Social Work and Modern Communication: Technology and Field Education

Reading Time: < 1 minutes

On Friday, November 30, I had the pleasure of presenting at the Virginia Society for Clinical Social Work for their annual symposium. The theme of the event was The Future of Social Work and Modern Technology. My talk focused primarily on technology and field education.

As the final presenter of the day, I was very nervous. This was my first time engaging with this organization; I was much younger than most of the attendees; and I was unsure of how they would receive me and my presentation style. As doubt began to cloud my mind, I reflected back on my leadership philosophy and my desired presence. After the presentation, I had many attendees thank me for my topic and requests for me to come to their organizations to provide additional training on this very topic.

I entered my doctoral program with a specific career goal in mind; this semester has shifted my short-term and long-term goals. With every day and every assignment, my career path is becoming clearer. I am excited to continue learning, growing, reflecting, and inspiring.
