Four Semesters Down…

Reading Time: < 1 minutes

I have officially completed my fourth semester overall and first semester of my second year in my doctoral program. Here are reminders of what I thought after I completed my first, second, and third semesters.

With my new promotion, a redesign of our online program, and the rigors of this program, I have never felt as exhausted as I do right now. After some critical self-reflection, I have prepared for this upcoming semester with new energy, dedication, and perspective. But most of all, I’m starting this new semester with giving myself GRACE.

My top 3 takeaways of the summer semester:

  1. I need to revise my teaching philosophy to include my perspective on giving feedback.
  2. Taking time to unplug, regroup, and refresh is not a sign of weakness. It is an act of self-care that must be prioritized.
  3. Words of affirmation and appreciation are a part of who I am as a professional and person. I love the energy I feel when I give verbal and written appreciation to others.
